If only real life had danger music, like in the scary movies.
You know the story, we watch in horror as our favorite character marches aimlessly into a basement, while the villain lurks in the shadows. Movie producers realized a long time ago that slow, droning sounds only added to the tension of a scene and keep us at the edge of our seats.
Unfortunately, as we go about our lives there is no such thing. If you're not saving enough money or choosing unsuitable investments, you're not going to hear Alfred Hitchcock inspired strings as you review your statements. Instead of waiting for the music, let me propose a solution.
First, if you haven't already, sit down with a financial advisor. In many cases advisors are more than happy to offer a free consultation to discuss your situation. You will benefit from the peace of mind that comes from working with a seasoned professional.
Second, if you already have an advisor you're working with, remember to stay in touch. Our clients are our top priority, but in most cases we're not speaking with them every week. If something changes in your life, let us know and we'll be better able to help you reach your goals. The more time you and your advisor spend getting to know each other, the more confident you will feel about your future.
